From the beginning of November, the “Christmas bags to go” were available in Ingolstadt’s company restaurants and self-service markets at a price of 25 euros. The bags were filled with Advent and Christmas treats put together by the Audi Works Council Service team. Each bag contained a bottle of fruit punch, a pack of gingerbread, a chocolate Santa Claus and two limited-edition Audi Christmas cups, as well as the Audi Advent calendar with 24 little chocolate bars. The bag not only sweetened the pre-Christmas period, but also supported social organizations in the region: more than 8,000 euros were raised.
Support for seven panels in Region 10
The donation sum goes to exactly where financial support is urgently needed – namely at the panels around the Audi main plant. Many people live in poverty or are at risk of poverty due to the rising cost of living. At the same time, tons of food are thrown away across Germany every day, even though the quality is still impeccable. At this point, the food banks create a balance: they save this food from the garbage can and distribute it to socially and economically disadvantaged people. Against the background of the current inflation and the rising prices directly associated with it, the food banks are becoming increasingly important. In turn, the Tafel are dependent on the support of volunteers and donations,
For this reason, the company also supports the donation sum of 8,000 euros from the Christmas campaign “Christmas bag to go” and increases this to 30,000 euros. A larger number of panels in the region can now be taken into account. A total of seven food banks in Region 10 received a monetary donation: Ingolstadt with Kösching and Gaimersheim, Kelheim, Manching, Eichstätt, Pfaffenhofen and Schrobenhausen. Among the seven recipients is the Tafel in Neuburg.
“Important contribution to community and social justice”
Just like all other Christmas campaigns of the Audi Works Council, the “Christmas bag to go” was coordinated by the Audi Works Council Service team. The head of the service works council, Thomas Wendl, is proud of the successful start of the new Christmas campaign: “By buying a Christmas bag, the Audi employees have once again proven that they are making an important contribution to the community and social justice for the region.” Loud Wendl urgently needs the proceeds from the campaign because many non-profit organizations in the region are reaching their limits. This also applies to the food banks, because they live on volunteer help and donations. “The Tafel deserve the highest respect and recognition for their work, which we want to support and appreciate with our contribution. My thanks go to all Audi employees,
Ute Röding, Head of Corporate Citizenship at Audi: “The company was happy to increase the amount donated because the Tafel with their volunteer employees make an extremely important contribution to society in our region. It is important to Audi to use these facilities to support people in the region who urgently need help.”
