Yamaha Motor to Withdrawal from Pool Business

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) announced that the Company has decided to finish sales activities at the end of March, 2024 and withdraw from the pool business.

1. History of the Business and Reason for Withdrawal
In 1974, Yamaha Motor commercialized Japan’s first all-FRP swimming pool, making use of the Company’s proven FRP processing technology in boat manufacturing.
Since then, the Company has delivered swimming pools all across Japan in schools, for children, leisure and fitness, in homes and other residential applications, and also in other areas such as medical care etc.
Among the vast variety of uses, Yamaha Motor is also proud of its achievement of being the top provider of school pools (larger than 20 meters in length) domestically with over 6,500 units being distributed nationwide across Japan.

Under our current medium-term management plan, we are promoting portfolio management. We have decided to withdraw from this business in order to concentrate our management resources on existing and new growth businesses.

2. Future Actions
Yamaha Motor will continue to provide after-sales services for the pools and other items that have been delivered to date.

3. Impact on Business Performance
The effect on the company’s consolidated results will be minor.
