From Heel to Toe, the Air Max 270 Go is Designed for Kids at Every Stage and Age

  • As Nike draws from kids’ insights to create kids-specific product innovations, the Nike Air Max 270 Go is the first Air Max model from Nike that is integrated with a collapsible tailgate entry system designed specifically for kids.
  • Alongside the recently launched Jordan Brand 23/7 kids shoe, the Nike Air Max 270 Go reaffirms NIKE, Inc.’s commitment to developing kids-first designs that inspire our youngest athletes to play all day.

The design intent of the Nike Air Max 270 Go is simple – to create an Air Max model that gets kids in and out of their shoes as quickly and easily as possible. Nike’s goal is to create as few barriers as possible to inspire kids to move and play all day.

As Nike serves the future of athletes and sport, it listens to the athlete, no matter their age or stage, to create product that meets their unique needs at every level of development.

For the Air Max 270 Go, its innovations include a collapsible tailgate that allows kids to simply step onto the heel to slip it on. The tailgate is designed to stretch with the breathable, engineered vamp mesh on the upper while creating support that meets the midsole’s Air Max unit. The result: Nike’s first Air Max model that is integrated with a collapsible tailgate entry system designed specifically for kids.

Nike designers thoughtfully considered every age and stage of a kid’s development when designing the shoe. Take the shoe’s stack height: lower stack heights are important for children as they develop their stability, and the Air Max 270 Go’s stack height increases as a kid gets bigger. The shoe’s lacing is also nuanced depending on a child’s development – for grade school kids, the shoe comes with traditional laces; for preschool kids, the shoe comes with elastic laces, which factor in motor skill development for little fingers and hands.

“No consumer stretches our product to the limit and is more demanding than a kid,” says Cal Dowers, VP/GM, Global Nike Kids. “That’s why we’ve come up with solutions that are kids-specific — in innovation and style — that meet their needs and allow them to play all day long. The Air Max 270 Go is a great example of how we do that.”

The Nike Air Max 270 Go will be available beginning March 2 for Nike Members across Europe, and globally across Nike retail throughout March 2023.
