Commercial banks are an essential part in the Nigerian financial system. They are authorized to by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to conduct banking functions like accepting deposits, providing loans, and providing a range of financial services to businesses, individuals as well as other organizations.

There are over 20 commercial banks that operate in Nigeria including the most prominent ones including Zenith Bank, Access Bank, First Bank of Nigeria, United Bank for Africa (UBA) as well as Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB). They offer a broad variety of services and products such as current and savings accounts as well as credit cards, loans online banking, and mobile banking.
